How to Choose Between Traditional Braces & Invisalign

Two methods of orthodontic treatment that are popular among teens and adults looking for a straighter smile are Invisalign clear aligners and traditional braces. Today, our Langley orthodontists share the differences between these two options to help you make your choice.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign is a series of custom-made orthodontic clear aligners that are able to help straighten your teeth without having to use metal brackets or wires.

Throughout your Invisalign treatment, you will need to wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before switching to the next set in the series.

Since the aligners are made from transparent plastic, they can straighten your smile dscireetly. Casual observers won't be able to see them on your teeth.

Invisalign aligners are also removable, so you can take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss.

This means no significant changes to your diet or to your at-home oral care routines.

Braces, Toothworks Dental Clinics

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces can either be made from metal or tooth-coloured ceramic. Your orthodontist will adjust your braces during your treatment to help guide your teeth into their new, corrected positions.

The components of braces are elastic bands, wires, and brackets. These elements work together to apply specifically calibrated forces to your teeth, to gradually move them over time.

Traditional braces are an effective orthodontic treatment option for both simple and complex misalignment and malocclusion cases.

Recent improvements to their design mean that braces are far less obtrusive and much more comfortable than they once were.
