Invisalign First – For Little Smiles

Invisalign First is a Phase 1 orthodontic treatment that can improve children’s smiles as they grow.

What is Invisalign First?

Invisalign First aligners are similar Invisalign aligners for teens or adults, except they are designed to accommodate the development of the permanent teeth as they erupt.

Guiding children's teeth into the correct positions as they grow may lessen or eliminate the need for more extensive or invasive orthodontic treatment when they are older.

This treatment can be used to correct issues like arch development and expansion, tooth spacing, crowding and protrusions, and to improve the overall appearance of the smile.

Invisalign First is what we call Phase 1 orthodontic treatment – and is designed specifically for children ages 6 to 10. At this stage, orthodontists are able to identify issues that may benefit early treatment to address a developing problem.

How does it work?

Invisalign First aligners are custom designed for the child's unique mouth. Wearing Invisalign First aligners helps expand and contours the child’s jawline via a process called dental arch expansion. Dental arch expansion involves applying pressure to the teeth over time to increase the width of the dental arch.

During treatment, the device will shift your child’s teeth into their new positions. Depending on the nature of your child’s misalignment, they may require either a pair of aligners (for both the upper and lower jaw) or just one aligner.

  • It may seem counterintuitive to parents of young children to consult an orthodontist in the early years. But over and over again, we see problems that develop during the teen years and later that could have been mitigated by early treatment.
